Side note: I love seeing real celebrities play fictional versions of themselves, and Dan Marino in this movie is just fun. I will say that it's a harmless family movie that audiences will enjoy if only for nostalgia's sake, but if you haven't seen either Ace Ventura movie, you aren't really missing much. Thats cool, except whats normal for him is finding missing mutts, kidnapped kitties or. The premise is innocent enough, but the sexual jokes just didn't do anything for me save for the climactic crime-solving scene. I will try to be normal 12-year-old Ace Ventura Jr. The Ace Ventura franchise consists of American detective-comedies, with two theatrical films, one made-for-television film, and one animated television series. The overall story, based on an original concept and story written by Jack Bernstein, follows the criminal investigations of the titular and comedic pet detective. Jim Carrey has made a career of overacting, and, while this isn't as bad as The Mask, it isn't anything to write home about. Honestly, this movie doesn't do it for me. Instead of Ace Ventura, my Jim Carrey memories include Liar Liar and Bruce Almighty.
This movie holds a special place in a lot of people my age's hearts because they grew up with it, loving Carrey's over-the-top performance. Not just because Jim Carrey isnt in this, which is probably one of the more relevant reasons why, but because they cast him aside with a kid, a son, who doesnt even try to act like him. And unlike the other two, I can understand why this is so bad. When a simple pet case becomes a bigger conspiracy, Ace only has a few short weeks to solve the mystery before the big Superbowl. Lets get into the final and yet worst entry in the Ace Ventura series, Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective. Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, returns from a spiritual quest to investigate the disappearance of a rare white bat, the sacred animal of a tribe in Africa.
This movie stars Jim Carrey in the titular role as a private investigator who is hired to find missing pets.
